About the role

We’re looking for a backend developer to help us grow, add new and exciting features, and maintain our product API’s and internal back-office system. We are in the process of rewriting our back end, from Perl to JavaScript, so any experience with Nodejs would be advantageous.

Our technology is already used by some of the largest brands in the world, and we’re only just getting started. This is a pivotal moment to join a company that has a huge opportunity ahead of it.

You will be responsible for

Building new implementations of the decision engine across different clients, platforms, and continents.

Ownership and responsibility for a selection of systems/technologies/processes.

Working closely with the architecture, product & back end teams to develop new product features.

Reverse engineering partner websites to find new ways of integration.

Maintain and improve the existing back end codebase.

Designing/implementing our new back end in NodeJs.

Propose and build new features for the platform.

Input into development tools and best practices.

Reviewing pull requests, and mentoring others on best practices.

Explain complex processes to non technical stakeholders. 

Skills and Experience Required

Required:

5+ years experience with NodeJs or Perl.

Experience of developing with REST APIs or other programmatic interfaces to apps or devices.

Experience architecting and contributing to solution design.

Database experience with mySQL and NoSQL.

Experience building scalable web services and applications.

Ability to quickly learn new languages, tools and libraries.

Familiarity with Linux and cloud services.

Knowledge and desire to mentor junior members of the development team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

Experience with security measures in backend systems.

Replatforming from one technology to another.

Experience of working in an Agile development process (e.g. SCRUM).
